Another Successful Year

Last week I chaired our final Board meeting for this Rotary year and I would like to thank all the Board members for their outstanding efforts and contributions throughout the year. We were also joined by incoming directors Geoff Ross (Community Service/Foundation/Youth) and Laurie Glossop (President Elect). Judy Dinnison, who was an apology, takes over Club Service.

The Board approved the payment of $2,500 to the Rotary Foundation, $5,000 to Cancer Council Research and $4,000 to the Scott Kirkbride Melanoma Foundation. The Cancer related donations were as a direct result of our successful Perth Motorplex Speedway collections held throughout the year. This was in adddition to the $3,781 raised at the Speedway for the WA Bushfire Appeal and donated earlier in the year.

Jane O'Leary, our ever energentic Fundraising Director, confirmed that she is working on lots of ideas for our "Afternoon Tea Project" scheduled for Sunday 2nd October. I urge all members to get behind this project and support Jane as much as possible. We really need this project to raise the funds we require to continue to support the many activities we sponsor.

Jane also confirmed that the Early Act Club at Rosalie Primary School is going from strength to strength. It was acknowledeged that this successful project has had the added benifit of attracting interest in our Club from the Rosalie School community. We have gained two members as a result!

We now look forward to incoming President David Fisher leading the Club and wish him all the very best.

                                                                Rohan Nagappa

                                                                President
