A New Year

The club has had a solid start to the New Year with good presentations at our meetings and strong committee engagement.

I would like to thank all for accommodating the change in format that was forced on us at our meeting last week, with the loss of power at the Warehouse Cafe. In particular, I would like to thank Byron for adapting to the difficult environment with the limited light and delivering an extended enlightening presentation on his experiences in navy service.

The next club fundraising event is the Fashion Function on Sunday 18th February, between 3 pm and 6 pm at Yokine Bowling Club. To increase our income on the day, donations of any of the following items in good condition would be greatly appreciated: handbags, purses, scarves, shawls, belts, jewelry, hats.

Please pass this request on to family and friends as this is another good initiative to raise further funds to allow the club to increase our support of community projects. A community initiative that the club is looking to support this year is Dismantle. Dismantle (www.dismantle.org.au) uses the bicycle as a tool to empower young people to engage in education and employment pathways. The greater the assistance from everyone with fundraising, the greater our capacity to increase our support of great iniitiatives such as Dismantle.
